Welcome to Year 5 and Year 6.

We are taught by Miss Worthington, Mrs Salt, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Hicks. Across the Junior classes, we are lucky enough to share Mrs Hopkins, Mrs Donna Wood and Mrs Sarah Robinson as our Teaching Assistants throughout the week.

Important Days to remember...

Our P.E days are Wednesday and Thursday. Please make sure P.E kits are in school on these days. 

We also do the Friday Mile on a Friday morning.

Home Learning

In Year 5 and 6, we focus on reading, spellings and practising our times table on TT Rockstars as part of our home learning. Additional Year 6 homework and revision is set on google classrooms once a week. 

Spelling

We will be using Read, Write Inc. Spelling to learn our spellings each week. Each week, we will be introduced to a spelling rule, plus five 'Jumping Words' from the Year5/6 statutory spellings list. 

Purple Group- Spellings tested on a Tuesday.

Red Group- Spellings tested on a Wednesday.

Orange Group- Spellings tested on a Monday. 
Green Group- Spellings tested on a Tuesday.

Reading 

This should continue nightly and we ask Reading Records to be filled in each time. Please show your signed Reading Record to a staff member so that you can get your house point each day!

Times Table Practice

In the Junior classes, we use TT Rockstars to help us with our rapid recall of multiplication and division facts. Please encourage your child to log in from home and practise regularly. Those who play the most each week will receive a certificate in our Friday assembly.
