We have some fantastic bakers in our school. Children from all classes and parents entered our bake off competition in the categories of best tasting cakes and the best decorated cakes and cupcakes.

All the cakes will be sold on Saturday in the village hall when FOLS create a the Litton tea room to raise money for school.

Our KS2 Residential to Losehill Hall in Castleton.

We had a good first day at Losehill. The children enjoyed the Treak Cliff Cavern visit, especially the part that looked like cream cheese. The children carried out a village study around Castletown before making candles in the evening. We are very proud to have had some many positive comments about the childrens’ excellent listening and behaviour.

Our Second day - We had a very busy day. We started the day by map reading and using grid references. Then we went out for a hike to Mam Tor using our map reading skills and compasses. We had a picnic near to Odin’s mine.  Everyone loved the mud chute!!!

We had a great time on our last day. We started the day with gem-panning. Then we carried out a river study by measuring the flow, depth and width of the river. This was great opportunity to stand in the river. Then we went river dipping to find out what living things can be found in the river. After a well deserved lunch, we had a fun time collecting logs for den building. Everyone had an enjoyable time on our residential and went home very tired. Congratulations to all the children for their impeccable behaviour and making it such a fun and happy experience.

Christmas Jumper Day

Congratulations to all the children and staff who wore their Christmas jumpers to school. We raised £41 for Save the Children charity.

Christingle Service

We had our Christingle Service in Litton Church at the beginning of December to start our Christmas season.  Every child in school made a Christingle and we bought them to the service. The Year 5 and Year 6 children read out prayers during the service and some of our Governors took part in prayers and giving a talk. The school choir led the singing. The older children's candles were lit to create a warm, magical glow symbolising the light of Christ.

Children In Need Day

Congratulation to all the staff and children for raising £54.67 for Children In Need 2023. The children came to school in their pyjamas and had a very fun day in school.

Winster Morris Men and Women

We had an amazing time on Tuesday afternoon when the Winster Morris men and women came to visit us. We learnt some new dances and some of the children joined the musical group playing their violins and drums. we are hoping to perform these dances during Wakes Week 2024. Thank you for helping us.

Our Environmental Morning

A very big thank you for everyone who helped on our Environmental morning on Saturday and earlier in the week after school.

The sun was shining and we had a great morning doing various jobs around the school grounds. This included painting the sheds, putting up the basketball net, painting the gates, harvesting the school garden, updating and replacing the wood in the gravel pit, weeding, planting trees, tidying up the woodland and building a bug hotel. This was helped along with tea, coffee, squash and bacon sandwiches.

Thank you everyone!

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon- raising money for charity

The Year 6 children, parents and staff made cakes to support the Macmillan Coffee fund raising appeal. The Year 6 children helped set up and serve parents and local people with tea, coffee and cakes. We are very happy to announce we raised £231.92.  Well done Year 6!Thank you to everyone who came and supported this event.

Our Harvest Festival at Litton Church

This year the theme for RHS Tatton Park Garden is Biodiversity.

We want to build a garden which represents our local environment so that even the youngest children in our school can recognise a small piece of recreated rural White Peak Derbyshire within the Show. This localised view sits within a world wide setting of the UN Global Goals principles, the success of which biodiversity is central.

Our KS2 topic 'Protecting the Planet' focused on three key areas from the UN Global Goals (No.6 Clean Water and Sanitation, No.13 Climate Action and No 15. Life on Land). This was linked to bio-diversity in a local and global context.

See our design brief for further information.

Our Whole School Production Pirates Versus Mermaids

Having Fun at Playtime

Our Coronation Celebrations

We spent the afternoon celebrating the Coronation with activities organised by the Year 6 children on the memorial field. This was followed by some Junior boys playing 'God Save The King' on their brass instruments. Then we had an afternoon tea on the school playground supplied by parents and the PTFA.  We completed the afternoon by singing our Coronation song and receiving a special coin to mark this historic occasion.

The Open Centre in Derby Visit.

We had a very interesting and insight day on our visit to Derby yesterday. We had a guided tour and explanation about religious teaching in a Hindu temple, a mosque and in a Sikh Gurdwara. The children's behaviour was superb and they asked many thoughtful questions during our visit to each place.
