Science

Year 5 and 6 dissected hearts as part of their learning about the circulatory system. Well done, everyone, for being brave and working together to identify all the parts of the heart!

Juniors have been very lucky to have had a visit from Mark Hayes, who is a Soil Scientist and Spring Expert. He worked with the pupils to investigate the properties of different soil and focussed on making it a fair test. Well done, everyone, for your brilliant listening and questions! You were very enthusiastic and respectful.

Our Science Ambassadors set our Science Week competition to create a poster celebrating planet Earth and promote a habitat or species. Well done, Ambassadors, for your encouraging everyone to take part and for setting such a wonderful home project!

Science Week began with a wonderful visit from Beverley Rhodes who is an ecologist. She came in to discuss her role, the importance of protecting species and habitats and she brought her lovely barn owls for us.

We are very lucky that we can use our wonderful outdoor space to investigate the natural world and the animals which live in it.

Year 5 and 6 have been using Pictionary to draw our key vocabulary for their ‘Separating mixtures’ unit.

We used our vocabulary word mats and question wheels to create questions for our new plants topic today. We hope to answer lots of our questions throughout our topic this term!

We had a lot of fun creating the human digestive system using our science learning!

Year 5 and 6 learnt about light refraction by observing solid objects in water.
