Autumn Term 2022

This term, Year 3 and 4 will be looking at a variety of themes starting with Eyam and the Great Plague. Later in the term, we will be studying the country of Kenya as part of our Non-European topic.

In maths, we will ensure that our knowledge of place value and arithmetic skills are secure, as well as practise a variety of approaches to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Times table facts will continue to be a focus this term with TT Rockstars, which will assist the children in their class work this year and beyond. If you would like to find the time table songs that we will use in class, follow this link to the BBC "supermovers" website : https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/times-table-collection/z4vv6v4

In English, we will be reading the book 'The Great Plague' by Pamela Oldfield as a text to support and inspire our writing and reading. This is the story of a young girl called Alice and her experience of London in 1665.  Will Alice survive the Great Plague?

Also, we will be learning all about forces and magnets in science- we can't wait to investigate how magnets behave towards one another.

We enjoyed researching how Mary Anning has influenced palaeontology. With her determination and fearlessness, she has inspired us all!

Take look at our performance of ‘Rhythm of Africa’ by Edward Kofi Louis which we performed in assembly. I’m so proud of you all- well done, superstars!

Year 3 have been using their place value grids and coins to practise finding 1, 10 and 100 less.

We wrote humorous poems showcasing our summer holidays. We hope they make you smile!
