Spring Term 2023

Welcome back, everyone!

This half term, we will be learning all about saving the planet. In English, we will be studying the book ‘The Greak Kapok Tree’ by Lynne Cherry. This is such a beautiful tale of the Amazon rainforest and I’m really looking forward to exploring it with you all!

In science, we will be learning about animals including humans. This topic will involve us learning how our food is broken down in the digestive system, the functions of our teeth and how food chains work. I wonder if this topic will inspire you to become an ecologist or a dentist!

In our maths lessons, we will be exploring measure and then moving on to fractions. You will get the opportunity to use your wonderful number knowledge to solve perimeter problems!

Most excitedly, we get to go on our residential this half term to Ravenstor! I’m really excited to see your amazing teamwork in the great outdoors!

This week we learnt all about teeth! We explored our teeth before our knowledge to work out which teeth belongs to which animal species. Great work, everyone!

We explored the human digestive system in science!

Happy New Year, everyone!

We have got an exciting half term ahead! In history, we will be exploring the wonderfully gruesome world of the Vikings. Also, our D and T learning will see us designing and constructing Viking Longships out of recyclable materials. I look forward to seeing these creations floating by the end of the half term.

We will be studying the book 'Arthur and the Golden Rope' by Joe Todd Stanton. From this, we will be creating Kenning poems and writing newspaper reports.

In Maths, we will be focussing on multiplication and division. We are getting really confident at recalling our times tables facts so I look forward to seeing your fabulous calculations!

Our Science topic for this half term is 'Living things and their Habitats'. This is a great opportunity for us to become Taxonomists and study the world around us!

In Science, we completed a survey to explore the changes humans have made to the local area and the dangers they pose for wildlife.

Our wonderful Kenning poems based on Arthur and the Golden Rope

In science this week, we went outside searching for invertebrates and then classified them using their characteristics. Well done, Year 3 and 4!

We have started using Zones of Regulation to help us manage our feelings in Year 3 and 4. After talking about each ‘zone’, we worked in groups to read a scenario and decide which ‘zone’ that person would be in. It was lovely to hear your ideas and how respectful you were of others opinions. Remember Year 3 and 4, we are always here for you if you need to talk.

Our Times Tables Songs

Here is the list of our times table songs for you to sing at home- enjoy! I will keep adding to our list as we use them in class. Remember to also practise on TT Rockstars as well so our recall of facts is super quick!
