Autumn 1
Welcome back to school everyone- I can’t wait to hear all about your wonderful summer holidays and have a great year together this year!
Autumn Term
Our class novel for the first half of this term will be ‘Hello Lighthouse’ by Sophie Blackall.
Who do you think is saying hello to the lighthouse?
In Literacy, we will be writing Haiku, Tanka and Cinquain poems, before using our class book to write diary entries from various characters’ perspectives.
In maths this half term, we will be learning about place value. Year 3 will be studying 2 and 3 digit numbers up to 1,000. Year 4 will be studying 3 and 4 digit numbers to 10,000.
Our science this term will focus on investigating solids, liquids and gases. What are the properties of each state of matter and how can we use this knowledge to explain the water cycle? This learning will link with our geography ‘Rivers’ topic.
