The children and staff had a fantastic day dressed up as their favourite story characters. During Collective Worship, we explored the love of reading and how authors bring stories to life. The children shared stories with their buddies in Buddy reading.
The Story Character toilet roll competition had a large number of entries which were so creative and imaginative. It was very difficult for our Governor judge to choose a winner and runner-up for each class. Well done to everyone who entered!
The children and staff had a great time at The Winding Wheel in Chesterfield to watch the pantomine of Cinderella. The children loved the funny costumes of the ugly sisters and the sparkling dress of Cinderella.
Well done on a great Higgledy Piggledy nativity.
The Christmas Fair was enjoyed by all and it was very busy around the school. It was made extra special by a visit from Father Christmas. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported us to make this event such a great success. Total to follow shortly.
Congratulations to everyone who donated to the Samaritans Purse Shoe Box Appeal. We filled 10 shoe boxes with donations of hats, gloves, toys, personal care items, stationery, sweets and soft toys. These boxes will go to children in need across the world. Thank you for your support.
We visited Derby to learn more about places of worship and deepen our understanding of different religions.
The school read prayers and observed 2 minutes silence as a mark of respect.
Our Science Ambassadors have decided to create playground science bags full of equipment. They have been leading science investigations linked to different parts of our science curriculum. Well done, Science Ambassadors!
We had such fun canoeing on Coombs Reservoir in kayaks. We paddled around the reservoir before playing some games in the kayaks. Afterwards anyone who wanted to go for a paddle or a swim in the water could run into the water with all their clothing and life aids. It was so cold!
Both children and adults have had a fantastic few days at Whitehall and we have returned back to school very tired but with loads of happy memories.
Day 2 of Our Whitehall Residential
Thankfully the sun was shining on us. We had a fun day rock scrambling on the Roaches. The views were amazing from the top. We also went on the Leap of Faith, the rope course and the climbing wall. In the evening we played Secret Agents with our torches in the dark trying to find the adults. Some of them were impossible to find!
