Bake Off Competition
Our Bake Off Competition was a great success again this year. We have a school of very talented bakers who are very creative and imaginative. The cakes tasted delicious and they looked amazing too!

Today we had a visit from the author Bemma Akyeampong. She read us a book about a little turtle and we enjoyed doing some African dancing. The KS2 children found out how she finds her inspiration for her characters and plot. We had a very enjoyable day!
We enjoyed listening to the three talented musicians who entertained us by playing Bach. Bach was our musician of the month for January.
Due to the snowy and icy conditions, school is closed today (Friday 9th January). Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
We began the season of Advent with our service in Litton Church. The purpose was to remember the meaning behind Advent and Christingle. All the children made a Christingle from an orange. The Year 6 children stood at the front of the church holding their lit Christingles, pausing for a time of reflection during this busy time of year.
We had an amazing time at the Children's Book Awards at the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield. We met many authors and illustrators who had been short-listed for an award. They talked about where they found their inspiration and how important it is to love reading. They signed our copies of the short-listed books and recorded messages for the younger children in school.
We had lunch in the Winter Gardens, and then we visited the Millennium Gallery. We enjoyed looking at the metal and silverware on display as we had learnt about the significance of these items from our previous topic.
We remembered the people from Litton village who fought in the First and Second World Wars. We laid a wreath in memory of them and for all service men and women in the village. We read poems and prayers during our service.
The children learnt harvest hymns and read out readings and prayers during our harvest celebration in Litton church. Thank you for all of your generous donations and supporting to our harvest festival. All our donations will be sent to the High Peak food bank to be used in the wider community.

The whole school performed Peter Pan in Litton Church. It was a fantastic production and all the children were so confident on the stage. Well done to all the children and staff.
We had a great Wakes week. The children performed country dancing, maypole dancing and morris men/ women dancing to large audiences in the sunshine and rain! Thank you to everyone who supported this week during the performances and in the village hall.
