We had our Christingle Service in Litton Church at the beginning of December to start our Christmas season. Every child in school made a Christingle and we bought them to the service. The Year 5 and Year 6 children read out prayers during the service and some of our Governors took part in prayers and giving a talk. The school choir led the singing. The older children's candles were lit to create a warm, magical glow symbolising the light of Christ.
Congratulations to everyone who was involved in organising and supporting the Christmas Fair. The school choir opened the fair with jolly Christmas songs. We raised over £3000 for the FOLS funds to support the children’s wider curriculum. What a fantastic way to start the Christmas season. Many thanks to everyone!
Welcome to the latest additions to our school - Gerald and Geraldina our pet goldfish. Money was raised by the School Council to buy the fish. Well done!
Thank you to Andrea Mitson for writing the article about the Eco-Council and their work looking at how to promote caring for hedgehogs.
Thank you to Kirsty from the Ashford Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre for coming to talk to us in assembly about their work. It was lovely to meet Bambi the hedgehog and find out about how much she has grown since arriving at the centre. We learnt some interesting facts about hedgehogs.
Congratulation to all the staff and children for raising £54.67 for Children In Need 2023. The children came to school in their pyjamas and had a very fun day in school.
We held a short Remembrance Service on the Village Green to remember all the people who had given their lives in various wars and battles. We listened to some war poems, we had a time of silence before the Last Post was played on a trumpet by a Year 6 musician. We laid the school wreath on a the Village Cross as a sign of remembrance and respect.
We had an amazing time on Tuesday afternoon when the Winster Morris men and women came to visit us. We learnt some new dances and some of the children joined the musical group playing their violins and drums. we are hoping to perform these dances during Wakes Week 2024. Thank you for helping us.
A very big thank you for everyone who helped on our Environmental morning on Saturday and earlier in the week after school.
The sun was shining and we had a great morning doing various jobs around the school grounds. This included painting the sheds, putting up the basketball net, painting the gates, harvesting the school garden, updating and replacing the wood in the gravel pit, weeding, planting trees, tidying up the woodland and building a bug hotel. This was helped along with tea, coffee, squash and bacon sandwiches.
Thank you everyone!
The Year 6 children, parents and staff made cakes to support the Macmillan Coffee fund raising appeal. The Year 6 children helped set up and serve parents and local people with tea, coffee and cakes. We are very happy to announce we raised £231.92. Well done Year 6!
Thank you to everyone who came and supported this event.
We held another successful harvest festival in Litton Church. The Y6 children participate in reading poems about God's Finger Painting and The Ballard of Harvest Past. The Infant children sang Big Red Combine Harvester with actions. All the children sang hymns linked to celebrating harvest.
Thank you for your very kind food and toiletries donations. They will be going to the High Peak Foodbank.
